Polygons are two-dimensional shapes made up of line segments that never intersect more than two lines and is closed.
Types of Polygons
3 sides = triangle
4 sides = quadrilateral 5 sides = pentagon 6 sides = hexagon 7 sides = heptagon 8 sides = octagon 9 sides = nonagon 10 sides = decagon |

|
Trapezoid
A quadrilateral with only one pair of parallel sides |
Parallelogram
A quadrilateral with exactly two pairs of parallel sides
Square
A parallelogram with four ninety degree angles and four congruent sides (both a rectangle and rhombus) |
In addition to the hierarchy on the video, the other types of polygons listed above can be placed on the same rank as triangles and quadrilaterals.
*Note: It doesn't show it in the video, but an equilateral triangle is a type of isosceles triangle- they both have at least two congruent sides. |
